Are there no better colleges in Penang?

Time flies and I know you hear this all the time. People talking about how fast a year has gone by without any notice. So its time to think about how this year went by, what happen and what didn't, what could have and wouldn't have happened. Well, this year was an interesting year for me. At last, I have completed my Diploma in Business. I thought that it would be a very special day but it wasn't. It was just an ordinary day, a day just like any other day. I mean come on, I've been thinking and wanting to leave KDU 6 months after I'm in that college and finally I'm out of it. But still, Woohooo... it means I'm on my path to my degree now.

Talking about my degree. Well, Finance and Economics would be the perfect majors for me. At least I think it fits me. Sadly, such a program doesn't exist or it does but there is none here in Penang. Guess I will have to settle with Accounting and Finance. I thought to myself, "well... accounting, how bad can that be? Worst that can happen is that I'll grow grey hairs when I reach the age of 35 trying to balance out the balance sheet." Hahaha... Either that or I'll pull out all my hairs trying to figure out the budget. LOL

Anyway, I went to Disted's open day which was held recently. Upon a recommendation from a friend/mentor, I was suppose to consult someone. Sadly, that someone was busy counseling another potential student so I was assigned to two young ladies. Let me be straight up with you guys, I really really really thought they (the two young ladies) are from the marketing department. When they told me they are the actual lecturers for the program, I was actually quite stunned and ... yeah, I was totally stunned. There is no reason for me not to be stunned when you find out the conversation that we had.

I asked them a few questions. Most important question is definitely what program do they have to offer? Well, straight on from that moment, they kept on yapping about their Staffordshire program and continue to persist that its a program from the UK. It was as if the whole selling point of the program was that it is from the UK. I mean awww... I've been through this before and I was beginning to get annoyed.

I proceed, a program from the UK huh? Well, KDU has a program from the UK too. If I'm not mistaken, according to the Times Good University Guide ranking, Staffordshire stands at 70++. On the other hand, Keele stands at 40++ on the same ranking chart. So, is ranking important? Does it really makes any significant differences? They said it is without elaborating further. Obviously, they were not trying that hard to convince me to sign up for their program. By saying that it is and stop there is no difference from telling me that, "yeah, the program in KDU should be better." So now, do you understand why I was stunned when they told me that they are the lecturer? And ohhh, I almost forgot. I did asked them about the lecturer to student ratio, the permanent lecturer to part-timer ratio to which they replied, "Don't worry." Wonderful! Just what I need to hear.

Arghhh!!!! Are there no better colleges here in Penang? Seriously, is INTI my best bet? I've to consider this matter through and through and hope I don't make a mistake and end up just like what happen in KDU, too high of an expectation made of me, too low of a perceived quality delivered.

P/s: Dollhouse is getting better and better. I just love it. Fox TV is very dumb to not renew it for a new season. I am beginning to like all those weird weird movies. Recently, I downloaded the Matrix Trilogy, all the three movies in 3 days. It was and still is an awesome movie, provided you get the whole hardware and software, real world and the matrix thingy and the storyline.
